"LATEST TRENDS AND PRACTICES IN REFRACTORY FOR COPPER & COPPER ALLOY INDUSTRY"

Indian Copper Development Centre (ICDC) organized the seminar on “Latest Trends and Practices in Refractory for Copper & Copper Alloy Industry" at Mumbai on 15th September, 2009.  The Seminar was attended by more than 70 participants from all over the country and also abroad representing refined copper producers, manufacturers of copper and copper alloy semis, manufacturers of induction furnaces and refractories & installation equipment to the copper industry.

The opening session was presided over by Dr. L.R. Vaidyanath, President, Indian Copper Development Centre.  In his Presidential Address, apart from mentioning the role played by ICDC for the copper industry he also highlighted the importance of the subject of the seminar in present day’s context.

 

Mr. T.U. Shenava,  Managing Director,  Industrial Tubes Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd., while welcoming the participants, emphasized that all the stakeholders of the copper network have to work hand in hand in the present challenging economic scenario to achieve their goal.

Mr. D.K. Jain, President, INFMMA & Managing Director, Agrawal Metal Works Pvt. Ltd., delivered the opening remarks, and mentioned about the difficult situation the copper industry is facing in the context of the global economic slowdown.  He highlighted how the refined copper production and the downstream industry have grown over the years, and the important role of refractory in various stages of manufacturing copper and copper alloy products.

 

Dr. D. De Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer, Indian Copper Development Centre, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

De Sarkar and Mr. P. Vadhar, Director, Rupam Overseas.

The paper presentations in the second technical session was followed by a film show on the installation practice of refractory in the induction furnace.

 

   

Very lively discussions took place at the end of both the technical sessions when the authors replied to the queries raised by the audience.
